In Croatia, Fero families are generally Croats (from Porec ), very rarely Italians (from Novigrad ), and barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Porec and Pula.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Fero live in Croatia today, in 16 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 90 percent. They are located in threee Croatian counties and four other places, mostly in Porec (10), Vrvari (10), Novigrad (<10), Zagreb (<5), and in Sveti Lovrec Pazenaticki in Porec area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1926 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
