In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area) and in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Velika Kladusa area). In Gladovići in Middle Bosnia every sixth inhabitant had the family name Džanić.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Džanić live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number tripled. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 8 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Zagreb (35), Pitomaca in Djurdjevac area (<10), Rajevo Selo in Zupanja area (<10), Katinovac in Glina area (<10), and in Pula (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
