Dumančić families are Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia. According to some sources they are from Rakitno area and Vrlika. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Kupres area) and in Osijek. In places Osmanlije and Zlosela in Middle Bosnia every fifth inhabitant had the family name Dumančić.
Prevalence
About 970 people with faimily name Dumančić live in Croatia today, in 380 households. There were 330 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number tripled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 43 cities and 71 other places, mostly in Zagreb (190), Osijek (185), Sesvete (55), Cepin in Osijek area (45), and in Pozega (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
