Dugonjić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Tuzla Region (Bosnia), rarely Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Brcko area) and in Middle Bosnia (Travnik area). In Miškića Brdo in Middle Bosnia every third inhabitant had the family name Dugonjić.
Prevalence
About 260 people with faimily name Dugonjić live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 31 cities and 30 other places, mostly in Zagreb (65), Gunja in Zupanja area (25), Split (15), Novi Vinodolski (15), and in Rajevo Selo in Zupanja area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
