Drobnjak families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Velika Gorica , but often Serbs very rarely Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Petrinja. In Gornja Mlinoga in Petrinja every third inhabitant had the family name Drobnjak.
Prevalence
About 270 people with faimily name Drobnjak live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 420 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 28 cities and 32 other places, mostly in Zagreb (65), Ribnica (30), Pula (20), Petrinja (20), and in Velika Gorica (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
