Dragan families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Trogir area , rarely Italians (from Umag ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Trogir area and in Split. In Bristivica in Trogir area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Dragan.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Dragan live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 140 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Trogir (40), Bristivica in Trogir area (35), Split (25), Zagreb (<10), and in Kastel Kambelovac (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1927 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
