Dorčić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Krk (Baska). According to some sources they are from Istria or Novi Vinodolski. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and on the Island of Krk. In Baška on the Island of Krk every seventh inhabitant had the family name Dorčić.
Prevalence
About 290 people with faimily name Dorčić live in Croatia today, in 150 households. There were 400 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 19 cities and 35 other places, mostly in Rijeka (70), Baska on the Island of Krk (55), Zagreb (25), Zadar (15), and in Split (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
