Surname Dogan in modern Croatia

Dogan families are Croats and they are mostly from Imotski area and according to some sources from Prominski Bogatici. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in North Herzegovina (Konjic area). In Jasenik in North Herzegovina every fifth inhabitant had the family name Dogan.

Prevalence

About 260 people with faimily name Dogan live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 220 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent.
They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 28 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Zagreb (105), Ivankovo in Vinkovci area (45), Vinkovci (15), Postranje in Imotski area (15), and in Kula in Orahovica area (10).

"Doogan " is used by some 500 people in the United States , about 400 in Great Britain , and some 300 people in Zambia. "Doggan " is used by small number of people in the United States. "Dooghan " is used by some 70 people in Japan and small number in the United States.
