Deronja families are Croats and they are mostly from Drnis. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Doboj, Bosnia (Doboj area) and in Drnis. In Brištane in Drnis every tenth inhabitant had the family name Deronja.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Deronja live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 23 other places, mostly in Zagreb (50), Donja Dobra in Vrbovsko area (20), Zivaja in Hrvatska Kostajnica area (10), Sibenik (<10), and in Dugo Selo (<10).
