Delić families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Sinj area , rarely Bosniaks (Tuzla Region, Bosnia) and Serbs. According to some sources the family name originates from Split area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Zagreb. In Pribude in Sinj area every third inhabitant had the family name Delić.
Prevalence
About 3000 people with faimily name Delić live in Croatia today, in 1300 households. There were 1900 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 60 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 90 cities and 290 other places, mostly in Zagreb (590), Split (485), Rijeka (110), Solin (100), and in Kastel Sucurac (85).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over sixty times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
