Damjanović families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Djakovo area , less frequently Serbs and Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Livno area) and in Djakovo area. In Strupnić in Western Bosnia every sixth inhabitant had the family name Damjanović.
Prevalence
About 1800 people with faimily name Damjanović live in Croatia today, in 750 households. There were 1400 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 69 cities and 151 other places, mostly in Zagreb (240), Strizivojna in Djakovo area (215), Rijeka (100), Split (65), and in Osijek (60).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
