Dajak families are Croats and they are mostly from Omis area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Omis area and in Split.
Prevalence
About 220 people with faimily name Dajak live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 14 other places, mostly in Split (85), Cista Velika in Omis area (30), Zagreb (25), Blato na Cetini (20), and in Rijeka (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1923 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
