Cvitić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Jajce area) and in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanska Gradiska area). In Cvitići in Labin area every third inhabitant had the family name Cvitić.
Prevalence
About 440 people with faimily name Cvitić live in Croatia today, in 170 households. There were 280 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 60 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 36 cities and 60 other places, mostly in Zagreb (40), Nijemci in Vinkovci area (25), Pula (20), Klokocevec Samoborski (15), and in Cvitici in Labin area (15).
Outside Croatia
At least 18 families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to: the United States (8), Germany (4), Australia (2), Austria (2), Sweden (1), and to Canada (1). Family name Cvitić is present in 10 countries on three continents. The family name "Cvitic " is used by small number of people in Austria and small number of people in the United States.
