Cupan families are Croats and they are mostly from Bjelovar area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bjelovar and in Bjelovar area. In Malo Trojstvo in Bjelovar area every seventh inhabitant had the family name Cupan.

Prevalence

About 50 people with faimily name Cupan live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent.
They are only located in four Croatian cities and 13 other places, mostly in Zagreb (10), in Veliko Trojstvo (<10), Malo Trojstvo (<10) and Predavac (<10) in Bjelovar area, and in Gudovac (<5).
