Crnčević families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Opuzen area , rarely Serbs and Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Opuzen area and in Zagreb. In places Badžula , Vidonje and Mislina in Opuzen area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Crnčević.
Prevalence
About 440 people with faimily name Crnčević live in Croatia today, in 190 households. There were 380 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 27 cities and 29 other places, mostly in Metkovic (105), Sesvete (60), Zagreb (55), Dubrovnik (30), and in Split (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
