Cerin families are Croats and they are mostly from Rovinj area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and Zagreb. In Mrgani in Rovinj area every second inhabitant had the family name Cerin.
Prevalence
About 290 people with faimily name Cerin live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 340 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 23 other places, mostly in Rovinj (100), Zagreb (70), Pula (30), and in Mrgani (15) and Bale (15) in Rovinj area.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
