Celjak families are Croats and they are mostly from Zabok area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Zabok area. In Brestovec Orehovički in Lepoglava area every seventh inhabitant had the family name Celjak.
Prevalence
About 190 people with faimily name Celjak live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 220 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 22 other places, mostly in Zagreb (45), Brestovec Orehovicki in Lepoglava area (35), Vinkovci (15), and in Pustodol Zacretski (15) and Temovec (15) in Zabok area.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
