Burić families are Croats and they are mostly from Rovinj area. According to some sources they are from Ravno (Bosnia), or Montenegro. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Split. In Mirlović Zagora in Drnis area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Burić.
Prevalence
About 2700 people with faimily name Burić live in Croatia today, in 1100 households. There were 2200 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 79 cities and 220 other places, mostly in Zagreb (385), Split (225), Kuterevo (100), Pula (95), and in Rijeka (85).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over eighty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
