Budim families are Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Zavidovici area) and in Rama, Bosnia (Prozor area). In Čehari in North Herzegovina nearly every inhabitant had the family name Budim.
Prevalence
About 240 people with faimily name Budim live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 23 cities and 36 other places, mostly in Dugo Selo (40), Vukovar (20), Zagreb (20), Petrinja (10), and in Sracinec in Varazdin area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
