Brešković families are Croats the family name originates from the Island of Brac. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and on the Island of Brac. In Bol on the Island of Brac every twentieth inhabitant had the family name Brešković.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Brešković live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 7 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Split (30), Bol on the Island of Brac (20), Kastel Novi (10), Dubrovnik (<10), and in Zagreb (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1935 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
