Bočina families are Croats and they are mostly from Sinj area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Sinj area. In Gornje Ogorje in Sinj area every twentieth inhabitant had the family name Bočina.
Prevalence
About 210 people with faimily name Bočina live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 170 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 13 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Split (115), Jakovlje in Zapresic area (10), Zagreb (10), Solin (10), and in Zabno (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1571 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
