Surname Bota in modern Croatia

Bota families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Sinj area , often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sinj area and in Split. In Kolarina in Benkovac every seventh inhabitant had the family name Bota.

Prevalence

About 200 people with faimily name Bota live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 140 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent.
They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 16 cities and 22 other places, mostly in Split (50), Zagreb (20), Tijarica in Sinj area (15), Brnaze (10), and in Bjelovar (<10).

"Bothra " is used by some 1000 people in Nepal , about 200 in the United States , and some 100 people in Japan. "Bothsa " is used by few people in the United States. "Bottaa " is used by few people in the United States.
