Bosnić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Korcula , also Serbs, very rarely Bosniaks (iz Drvara, bosanske Posavine). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born on the Island of Korcula and in Ogulin.
Prevalence
About 800 people with faimily name Bosnić live in Croatia today, in 360 households. There were 610 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 45 cities and 66 other places, mostly in Zagreb (135), Blato on the Island of Korcula (135), Split (95), Ogulin (30), and in Rijeka (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
