In Croatia, Bos families are Croats (from Koprivnica area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Lepoglava area and in Koprivnica area. In Benkovec in Lepoglava area every fiftieth inhabitant had the family name Bos.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Bos live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 50 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 6 cities and 9 other places, mostly in Benkovec in Lepoglava area (<10), Stubicke Toplice in Oroslavje area (<10), Koprivnicki Bregi in Koprivnica area (<10), Kalnik in Varazdinske Toplice area (<10), and in Koprivnica (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
