Borović families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Varazdin area , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Varazdin and in Solin area. In Vučevica in Solin area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Borović.
Prevalence
About 600 people with faimily name Borović live in Croatia today, in 290 households. There were 800 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 35 cities and 47 other places, mostly in Zagreb (85), Split (60), Kastel Sucurac (60), Varazdin (45), and in Rijeka (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
