Borojević families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Hrvatska Kostajnica area , whereas often Croats (Brac). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Hrvatska Kostajnica area and in Zagreb. In places Borojevići and Knezovljani in Hrvatska Kostajnica area every third inhabitant had the family name Borojević.
Prevalence
About 710 people with faimily name Borojević live in Croatia today, in 330 households. There were 1100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 43 cities and 77 other places, mostly in Zagreb (110), Sumartin on the Island of Brac (55), Kastel Sucurac (45), Sisak (40), and in Split (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
