Borić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Senj area , rarely Serbs and Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Senj area. In Križ Kamenica in Senj area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Borić.
Prevalence
About 1500 people with faimily name Borić live in Croatia today, in 650 households. There were 1800 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 70 cities and 136 other places, mostly in Zagreb (295), Split (85), Sisak (85), Krizpolje in Senj area (60), and in Rijeka (50).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
