Bolić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Biograd na Moru area , often Serbs, very rarely Bosniaks (from Cazinska Krajina Region, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Slatina area and in Zadar. In Gornji Meljani in Slatina area every second inhabitant had the family name Bolić.
Prevalence
About 430 people with faimily name Bolić live in Croatia today, in 190 households. There were 510 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 33 cities and 41 other places, mostly in Zagreb (55), Rijeka (45), Posedarje in Zadar area (45), Turanj in Biograd na moru area (25), and in Osijek (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1923 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
