Bokun families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Donja Stubica area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Donja Stubica area.
Prevalence
About 310 people with faimily name Bokun live in Croatia today, in 120 households. There were 260 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 26 other places, mostly in Zagreb (45), Hum Stubicki in Donja Stubica area (35), Klostar Ivanic in Ivanic-Grad area (30), Dubrovnik (25), and in Dugo Selo (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
