Bogdan families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Kutina. According to some sources they are from Semovci, rarely Roms (Beli Manastir area) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cakovec and Kutina. In Donja Gračenica in Kutina area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Bogdan.
Prevalence
About 3000 people with faimily name Bogdan live in Croatia today, in 1000 households. There were 1300 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 74 cities and 223 other places, mostly in Kutina (390), Voloder in Kutina area (190), Zagreb (185), Split (145), and in Djurdjevac (105).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
