Blanuša families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Knin area , whereas often Croats (from Kutina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Kutina and in Knin area. In Nova Lipovica in Pleternica area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Blanuša.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Blanuša live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 410 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 32 other places, mostly in Zagreb (25), Rijeka (15), Donji Lapac in Obrovac area (15), Kutina (10), and in Vukovije in Daruvar area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
