Bižić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Jastrebarsko area , whereas often Croats (also from Jastrebarsko area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Jastrebarsko area. In places Prkos Lasinjski and Sjeničak Lasinjski in Jastrebarsko area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Bižić.
Prevalence
About 190 people with faimily name Bižić live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 350 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 25 cities and 28 other places, mostly in Zagreb (50), Karlovac (15), Barilovic in Duga Resa area (15), Crkveni Bok in Hrvatska Kostajnica area (<10), and in Sisak (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
