Bišćan families are Croats and they are mostly from Duga Resa area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Karlovac. In Kozalj Vrh in Duga Resa nearly every inhabitant had the family name Bišćan.
Prevalence
About 900 people with faimily name Bišćan live in Croatia today, in 390 households. There were 620 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 34 cities and 95 other places, mostly in Zagreb (180), Samobor (90), Duga Resa (85), Cerovac Barilovicki in Duga Resa area (60), and in Kozalj Vrh (55).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
