About 50 people with faimily name Bistrica live in Croatia today, in 19 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 6 Croatian counties, four cities and 8 other places, mostly in Kupinec in Jastrebarsko area (25), Bilje in Osijek area (<10), Pozega (<10), Kraljevac in Bjelovar area (<10), and in Zagreb (<5).

Family name Bistrica is present in five countries on two continents. The family name "Bistrica " is used by small number of people in Moldova and small number in the United States.
