In Croatia, Bilek families are predominantly Croats (from Cazma area ), rarely Czechs (from Daruvar ), and barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vukovar and in Daruvar area.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Bilek live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 9 other places, mostly in Daruvar (15), Zagreb (<10), Narta in Cazma area (<10), Pula (<5), and in Bibinje in Zadar area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
