Bešić families are mainly Bosniaks and they are mostly from Cazinska Krajina Region (Bosnia), whereas often Croats (also from Cazinska Krajina Region , Bosnia), rarely Roms (srednja Bosna). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Bosnian Krajina (Prijedor area). In Falešići in Tuzla Region (Bosnia) every second inhabitant had the family name Bešić.
Prevalence
About 690 people with faimily name Bešić live in Croatia today, in 280 households. There were 140 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 42 cities and 47 other places, mostly in Zagreb (300), Sesvete (65), Pula (60), Split (50), and in Rijeka (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
