Berač families are Croats and they are mostly from Zupanja. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pozega and Sibenik. In Nurkovac in Pozega area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Berač.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Berač live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 130 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Zupanja (20), Pozega (20), Nurkovac in Pozega area (10), Sibenik (10), and in Umag (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
