In Croatia, Bera families are Serbs by relative majority (from Bosnian Posavina ), equally Croats (also from Bosnian Posavina ), and barely Montenegrins (from Split ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanski Novi area) and in Pleternica. In Ahmetovci in Bosanian Posavina every fourth inhabitant had the family name Bera.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Bera live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 8 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Trapari (10), Okuje (<5), Bakar (<5), and in Drenje Scitarjevsko (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1924 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
