Benjak families are Croats and they are mostly from Novi Marof. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Novi Marof and Varazdin. In Strmec Remetinečki in Novi Marof every fifth inhabitant had the family name Benjak.
Prevalence
About 420 people with faimily name Benjak live in Croatia today, in 150 households. There were 500 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 19 cities and 42 other places, mostly in Strmec Remetinecki (70), Zagreb (50), Remetinec (50), Novi Marof (40), and in Ostrice (30).
