Belčić families are Croats and they are mostly from Lepoglava area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Lepoglava area and in Zagreb. In Cvetlin in Lepoglava area every ninth inhabitant had the family name Belčić.
Prevalence
About 310 people with faimily name Belčić live in Croatia today, in 120 households. There were 340 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 39 other places, mostly in Zagreb (45), Rakitovec (35), Lijeva Martinska Ves in Sisak area (35), Cvetlin in Lepoglava area (15), and in Sisak (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
