Belušić families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Pazin area. According to some sources they are from Svete Katarine (near Labina), rarely Italians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Labin and Pula. In Sveta Katarina in Pazin area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Belušić.
Prevalence
About 460 people with faimily name Belušić live in Croatia today, in 200 households. There were 470 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 23 cities and 38 other places, mostly in Labin (60), Potpican in Labin area (40), Pula (35), Donja Bistra in Oroslavje area (35), and in Zagreb (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1664 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
