Belović families are Croats and they are mostly from Mursko Sredisce area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cakovec and Zagreb. In Štrigova in Mursko Sredisce area every ninth inhabitant had the family name Belović.
Prevalence
About 190 people with faimily name Belović live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 260 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 18 cities and 28 other places, mostly in Cakovec (45), Zagreb (30), Vukovar (15), Strigova in Mursko Sredisce area (10), and in Pribislavec (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
