Beljo families are Croats and they are mostly from Rama (north Herzegovina), Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rama, Bosnia (Prozor area) and in Herzegovina (Citluk area). In places Mluša and Maglice in Rama (Bosnia) every second inhabitant had the family name Beljo.
Prevalence
About 370 people with faimily name Beljo live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 25 cities and 36 other places, mostly in Zagreb (100), Vinkovci (55), Vukovar (25), Tovarnik in Ilok area (20), and in Sveti Ivan Zabno in Krizevci area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
