In Croatia, Bele families are almost entirely Croats (from Pregrada ), very rarely Italians (from Umag ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Pregrada.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Bele live in Croatia today, in 19 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, four cities and 9 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Kostelsko (<10), Slatina Svedruska in Krapina area (<5), Umag (<5), and in Kapela Dvor in Virovitica area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1928 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
