Belavić families are Croats and they are mostly from Duga Resa area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Karlovac and in Duga Resa area. In Šćulac in Duga Resa area every third inhabitant had the family name Belavić.
Prevalence
About 520 people with faimily name Belavić live in Croatia today, in 220 households. There were 610 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 42 other places, mostly in Karlovac (160), Duga Resa (65), Sculac in Duga Resa area (40), Zagreb (30), and in Rijeka (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
