Bede families are Croats and they are mostly from Ozalj. According to some sources they are from Hungary. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and Ozalj. In Gornji Oštri Vrh Ozaljski in Ozalj every fifth inhabitant had the family name Bede.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Bede live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 14 other places, mostly in Cepin in Osijek area (25), Osijek (20), Ozalj (15), Karlovac (<10), and in Mokosica (<10).
