Batinić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Gornji Vakuf area) and in Split. In places Krupa , Carica and Donja Ričica in Middle Bosnia every fourth inhabitant had the family name Batinić.
Prevalence
About 1100 people with faimily name Batinić live in Croatia today, in 450 households. There were 590 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 59 cities and 106 other places, mostly in Zagreb (195), Split (180), Makarska (60), Piskorevci (30), and in Dubrovnik (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
