Barčot families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Korcula. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born on the Island of Korcula and in Split.
Prevalence
About 230 people with faimily name Barčot live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 200 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 5 other places, mostly in Vela Luka on the Island of Korcula (145), Split (35), Dubrovnik (20), Hvar on the Island of Hvar (15), and in Korcula on the Island of Korcula (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1924 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
