Baltić families are often Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , less frequently Serbs and Bosniaks (from Cazinska Krajina Region, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Travnik area) and in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Bosanska Krupa area). In Gornji Korićani in Middle Bosnia every eighth inhabitant had the family name Baltić.
Prevalence
About 550 people with faimily name Baltić live in Croatia today, in 220 households. There were 250 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 42 cities and 48 other places, mostly in Sisak (60), Zagreb (55), Ratkovica (55), Djurdjevac (35), and in Borik in Orahovica area (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
