Surname Balo in modern Croatia

In Croatia, Balo families are predominantly Croats (from Banat, Vojvodina ), rarely Hungarians (from Beli Manastir area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Beli Manastir area and in Backa, Vojvodina.

Prevalence

Only a few people with faimily name Balo live in Croatia today, in two households only. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly.
They are located in only threee naselja i to in Vrboska on the Island of Hvar (<5), Draz in Beli Manastir area (<5), and in Lapovac (<5).
